With the North Sea to the west, the Limfjord to the north, Klosterheden - Denmarks largest area of planted woodland - to the east, and flat sandy land to the south, it is hard to imagine a better starting point for a family holiday. The Limfjord is genuine Viking territory and if you are lucky you may even find an arrowhead or stone axe head on the beach. A visit to the Stone Age Centre at Ertebolle is highly recommended, as is a trip to the Hjerl Hede living museum, which, with its historic houses and living workshops, provides a vivid glimpse into the development of the Danish village.
